Vitality Plus
HPV vaccine
(cancer prevention vaccine)

The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine protects against certain strains of HPV that can cause genital warts and certain cancers such as cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile, anal, and throat cancer. The vaccine is most effective when given before someone becomes sexually active, but it can still provide some protection afterwards. It is approved for use in females and males aged 9 to 45 years of age. Adolescents aged 9 to 14 years should receive 2 doses of HPV vaccine; the second dose should be administered 6 to 12 months after the first dose. For those initiating vaccination on or after their 15th birthday, 3 doses of HPV vaccine are recommended (0, 1-2, 6-month schedule).
