Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical:
- Assess and evaluate patient wounds to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform wound care procedures, including cleaning, dressing, and debridement.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Stay updated on the latest wound care techniques and products.
- Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and mentor the wound care nursing team.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Utilize effective communication strategies to collaborate and interact with staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrate respect and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with others.
- Participate in committees, task forces, projects and other duties as requested/delegated.
- Education & Continuing Professional Development:
- Organize training sessions and workshops for the nursing team on wound care best practices.
- Support staff in obtaining certifications related to wound care.
- Promote participation in conferences and seminars to enhance professional knowledge.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques and infection prevention.
- Quality, Safety and Risk Management
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives for wound care services.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as infection rates and healing times.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with wound care procedures.
- Confidentiality:
- Safeguard patient information and ensure compliance with confidentiality policies.
- Investigate and address breaches of confidentiality in a timely and professional manner.
Education / Licensure (essential minimum requirement)
- Master's degree in Wound Care or a related field.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license..
- Certification in wound care (e.g., WOCN, CWCN, or equivalent).
- BLS.
Desirable
- Additional certifications or training in specialized wound care (e.g., negative pressure wound therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy).
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes and KPIs related to wound care services.
- Participation in professional wound care organizations or networks.
Professional Experience (essential minimum requirement):
- At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with 2–3 years specializing in wound care.
- Expertise in advanced wound care techniques and management.
