Job Summary:
The position's primary focus is to manage daily operations and provide a competent skill set for all aspects of human embryology. This position includes 'hands on' involvement in clinical IVF laboratory work and coordination of research projects as directed by the Laboratory Director. The candidate will be expected to maintain CAP standards regarding quality control/ quality management, procedural guidelines and day-to-day management of the IVF laboratory. In addition, the candidate will facilitate and coordinate the PGD/PGS embryo biopsy program. This will require exceptional skills and knowledge of pre-implantation genetic testing and embryo biopsy skills (blastomere and trophectoderm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all procedures required for IVF cycles, including medium and dish preparation, egg retrieval, sperm preparation, fertilization check, embryo evaluation, cryopreservation and thawing, transfer, ICSI and assisted hatching.
- Performs all andrology services, including preparation of semen samples for artificial inseminations and IVF, cryopreservation of sperm, and complete sperm analysis assessed by World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
- Performs laboratory daily quality control (QC), quality assessment (QA), and participates in quality improvement (QI) programs, record keeping and collection of data.
- Performs other duties as assigned, and in keeping with hospital policies, procedures and standards of patient care and initiatives toward continuous improvement at the individual and organizational level
- Performs all ancillaries’ duties as request to maintain a clean and operating laboratory, including cleaning, equipment maintenance and inventory control.
Education / Licensure (essential minimum requirement)
- Bachelor’s degree in science required; Master’s degree preferred in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Medical Technology is a plus
Professional Experience (essential minimum requirement):
- Three years or more prior experience in human IVF laboratory
- Ability to participate in a rotating schedule that includes some Fridays and official holidays
- Must have excellent skills in andrology, ovum pickup, denudation and ICSI
- Experience with Trophectoderm and blastomere biopsy is a plus
