Job Summary:
The Civil Technician Assistant for maintenance plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and repair of hospital buildings and assisting in the execution of expansion projects and modifications requested by end-users. This position ensures that all structures, systems, and facilities meet safety and operational standards. The Civil Technician Assistant will work closely with technicians and engineers to conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, and assist with routine maintenance tasks to keep the hospital environment safe, efficient, and functional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake all work to the highest standard possible and in line with current best practices and guidelines.
- Assist technicians in complying with contract specifications and service delivery conditions.
- Assist with a variety of tasks, including plastering, bricklaying, tiling, excavation, and drilling.
- Perform basic plumbing and carpentry tasks, including the use of hand tools and power equipment such as planers, circular saws, dust extraction systems, pillar drills, and abrasive wheels.
- Assist in performing patch repairs to wall finishes, tiling, general joinery, and woodwork
- Apply paint, stains, and finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces, including primers and sealers to prepare surfaces for finishing coats.
- Apply floor finishes, including but not limited to tiles, PVC, and epoxy coatings.
- Perform construction-related cleaning tasks to ensure cleanliness after repairs or renovations
- Ensure compliance at all times with Health and Safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries and complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as necessary to complete repairs and projects.
- Monitor and manage the use of equipment and materials for efficiency and to avoid wastage.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate Diploma, graduation equivalency diploma (GED) certificate.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in finishing and maintenance, experience in hospitals and hotels is preferred
Working conditions & Physical requirements:
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
- Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight.
- Requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Exposed to all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to follow Safety requirements.
- Able to work off hours or on shifts that can include holidays, nights, or weekends.
