Job Summary
To provide professional physiotherapy practice & knowledge in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the physiotherapy treatment relating to disabilities, injuries and diseases through the use of all physiotherapy treatments for assigned patients in accordance with the orders of the referring physician and in accordance with legal hospital practice, departmental policies & procedures, established standards for modalities, practices as defined by the CMC and accreditation standards (JCIA)
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
- Provide direct care to assigned patients after a referral from a treating physician
- Take the history and the specific physiotherapy examinations of the referred patient and sets the appropriate treatment plan according to the assessment results
- Start the treatment and monitor the response of the patient to the session
- Follow the policy for identifying a new in or outpatient for physiotherapy treatment
- Deliver clear explanations to the patient for every modality for his/her consent
- Execute physician's orders for all assigned patients, adds the necessary treatment in accordance with physician and the senior physiotherapist and refers any issues to them in relation to treatment progress
- Perform admission, discharge, appointments and billing for the sessions as required and assists others with patient's activities and care
- Report any complaint or incident in accordance with hospital policy and ensures that the head of department is informed.
- Follow the operating policies and procedures of the department concerning patient safety, infection control, and equipment maintenance, in addition to all relevant hospital policies and procedures
- Document assessment, treatment plan and progress notes as per policy
- Seeks opportunities to improve the quality of treatment and care as well as the outcomes of the department and the hospital
- Participate in departmental meetings
- Promote positive working relationship and team work between the physiotherapists
- Present a professional appearance in uniform and grooming as per the dress code
- Ensure that the environment of the department is well maintained and clean
- Perform any other applicable task designated by the senior physiotherapist for example (insurance paper work…)
- Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and health records at all times
- Apply Service Excellence techniques in customer care
- Is responsible for own professional development
- Assist in promoting the physiotherapy department and the modalities offered to the physicians and the patients and family members attending the hospital
- Perform related duties as required by the senior physiotherapist
- Participate in performance improvement activities Adhere to the international patient safety goal.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Education
Physiotherapy degree from a recognized University
Experience
2-5 years of experience in physiotherapy practice in a hospital or in a private clinic.
Training experience in hospital and physiotherapy departments during the four years of studies.
Licenses Required
Registered in the Ministry of Health.
Skills and Qualifications
Interpersonal and communication skills, Fluent in Arabic. Ability to speak, understand, read and write in English, Up-to-date knowledge of medical management and physiotherapy care in the specialist area, Critical thinking skills, and understanding of evidence-based care, A team player, willing to work flexibly within sphere of competence
Working conditions & Physical requirements
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.
- Conditions such as noise, Odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort.
- Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required, such as walking, standing, performing a session of massage and other modalities, CPR, and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and patients
- To provide physiotherapy on call shifts to cover vacations and days off as scheduled
- Vision, hearing, speech, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate to enable one to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate oral communication.
- Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs.
- Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.
- May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation, chemotherapeutic agents, and disoriented or combative patients
