Job Summary
The Quality Specialist will facilitate provision of credible, effective and visible professional quality and will make a corporate contribution in achieving the implementation of the hospital’s and the quality department’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring that excellent care, compassion, and a positive patient experience is at the heart of Abdali hospital. Responsible for carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities and activities related to performance measurement and performance improvement that includes chart review, clinical audit, key performance indicators-hospital/departmental/ unit and function specific.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as expert resource to all levels of staff in all areas relating to quality program, performance measurement, improvement and clinical audit.
- Facilitate the development of qualified and sufficient quality liaison staff (quality facilitator).
- Liaise closely with the departmental quality units/staff with regard to quality program and accreditation.
- Conduct chart review, clinical audits and patient care review methodology and evaluation mechanisms and monitor to assure results are achieved.
- Facilitate the departmental chart review activities
- Train and coach the department on performance measurement, performance improvement, and clinical audit.
- Collaborates with all levels of hospital wide services to facilitate the Quality Training Program
- Coordinate performance measurement and improvement efforts, including scope and causes.
- Follow up and monitor the impact of the performance improvement efforts.
- Facilitate performance improvement initiatives within the scope of the quality program and department.
- Coordinates and monitors all accreditations compliance activities related to patient care and participate in the survey process
- Recommends and assists development and monitoring of quality indicators for field-wide following accreditations approved process
- Reviews patient care standards, policies and procedures for consistency department wide
- Process and report results of quality assessment and improvement program to the QPSE director
- Investigates new and different methods of patient care evaluation and data analysis
- Conduct an initial and in-depth analysis of key performance indicators including data validation
- Coordinates development and review of medical record forms used
- Provides or serves as content expert for training in quality assessment process and methods
- Process and reports all Incidents and Near Misses activities.
- Review needed quality resources with the QPSE director
- Facilitate on-going development of multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality care within hospital facility
- Orient the newly employed staff on the quality programs delegated by the QPSE director
- Participates in tracer activity as part of the tracer team
- Performs miscellaneous related duties as required
- Ensure quality initiatives are met in terms of audit, benchmarking, and data
- Follow the hospital wide, human resources and the department of quality policies, procedures, rules and regulations
- Articulate and communicate the vision and strategy of the hospital and the quality department.
- Act as a role model and inspiration to others, leading by example in regard to behaviour, attitudes, conduct and appearance.
- Utilize effective communication strategies to collaborate and interact with staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrate respect and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with others.
- Undertake or participate in projects or tasks outside his/her normal responsibilities as requested by the Director of quality.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with the organization's confidentiality policy.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in health care related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is essential.
- Attaining one of the internationally recognized quality certificates is essential, such as CPHQ, CPPS, CQA, CSSBB, CSSGB, ISO auditors. Etc.
