Job Summary
To work as a doctor in the hospital and offers medical service according to the best local and international standards within scientific and practical recognized references. To make effort to effectively participate in the hospital’s work development which guarantees the hospital’s upgrading to the best scientific and professional practices, so that the hospital meets the JCI requirements or any other standards the hospital seeks and conserves those standards on the best level.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Assessment and physical examination of patients.
- Establishing the admission order and plan of care of patients.
- Follow up of patients through their stay at ER room independently or through the attending physician that is assigned to the patient depending on patient’s case or wish
- Contacting attending physicians though official way of connection, giving data regarding patient status, updates, results of investigations and any other data that may help patient being free of disease
- Being first on call for any patients’ complaint in the ER, called by nursing station
- Applying and being strictly adherent to hospital announced working guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Applying the following procedures on bed side:
- Foley’s catheter insertion and removal
- NG Tube insertion and removal
- Chest Tube insertion
- Pleuronectes’s and peritoneal tapping
- Suturing of skin cut wounds
- Removal of Chest, Peritoneal and sub-cutaneous drains
- Dressing of simple non-complicated wounds
- Ordering of medications and narcotics independently
- Accompanying patients in the transfer process through ambulance out of hospital and to the hospital.
- Discharging of patient with ordering the discharge plan of care.
Secondary Functions
- Helping attending physicians in any procedure done at ER room
General Functions
- Performs work of equal skill and responsibility as directed. May also perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility, and may be requested to perform work of lesser responsibility when the workload of the section so requires in accordance to hospital policies and procedures.
- Complies with all safety policy plans and procedures and applies them responsibly within his/her department particularly job-related hazards hospital exposure control plans /bloodborne and airborne pathogens
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment such that to promote effective working relations.
- Follows proper code of ethics and common values and hospital policies to protect patient and hospital privacy at all time
- Complies with property and hospital assets policies which include hospital ownership of soft and hard assets i.e.: emails, applications, information, records, etc.
- Complies with department and hospital’s mission and policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in medicine.
- Jordanian/Arab board or board-eligible in ER medicine specialty
Licensing
- Licensed to practice medicine from ministry of health of Jordan (HKJ)
Skills and Qualifications
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Good command of oral and written English.
- BLS, AHA certificate
- ACLS, AHA certificate
- Preferred ATLS certificate
Working conditions & Physical requirements
- Works primarily in the hospital environment of the emergency room.
- May get exposed to infections and close contact with the patients.
- Subject to unpredictable or crisis situations
- May have to work long hours, in shifts and be available on-call to deal with medical emergencies.
- Occasionally involves prolonged standing/walking
