Abdali Hospital Celebrates 2022 Achievements by Hosting a Group of Prominent Media Representatives
Abdali Hospital has marked several achievements throughout 2022, most notably establishing the first-ever digital lab in Jordan; inaugurating the Family Medicine and Geriatrics Center, and Fertility, IVF and Genetics Center; and obtaining the Joint Commission International (JCI) hospital accreditation.
Dr. Ali Sa’d, Consultant Histopathologist, stated that Abdali Hospital is the first to apply digital histopathology via digital slide scanning. During a press conference on Tuesday, 13 December 2022, at Abdali Hospital, he explained that the scanning technology enables histopathologists to examine tissue using a computer or smart devices. Histopathologists can also magnify the tissue from the power 2x to 40x to analyze a sample and prepare a report on the condition remotely, without needing to use a microscope or to be physically present in the same location as the sample. Another advantage of the digital lab is facilitating the diagnosis process by involving the largest number of subspecialists in order to reach an accurate diagnosis, especially in rare disease cases, thanks to Abdali Hospital’s linkage to a broad international network of hospitals and labs.
In turn, Dr. Omar Al Omoush, Consultant Family Medicine and Clinical Director of Family Medicine and Primary Care Services, mentioned that the Family Medicine and Geriatrics Center, which he manages, was inaugurated last May to serve as the reliable first contact for patients to address their healthcare needs. He added, “Our team at the Family Medicine Center is committed to providing patients of all ages and health conditions with the best care within a warm and inclusive environment. The center extends the most comprehensive family medicine services and acts as a reference point for families to check up on their health while saving them time, effort, and money by receiving the treatment directly or following a referral system to suitable specialists based on their specific case.”
Dr. Al Omoush continued, “Underscoring Abdali Hospital’s belief in making high-quality healthcare accessible to all Jordanians and various segments of our society, we opened a clinic in Zarqa, in Al Sharq City near Martyr Rashid Al Zayoud Circle, last August, where we offer family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics specialties. The clinic aims to provide healthcare recipients in the Zarqa Governorate with the same first-class service delivered at Abdali Hospital at affordable prices, with an emphasis on educating patients about the importance of primary care, disease prevention, diagnostic accuracy, and the formulation of appropriate treatment plans.
Moreover, Abdali Hospital established the Fertility, IVF and Genetics Center to support couples suffering from fertility problems with advanced reproductive treatment, merging the latest technology and science with compassionate care and the highest ethical standards to help couples fulfill their dream of starting a family.
Dr. Bisher Kawar, Chief Medical Officer of Abdali Hospital, revealed that last September, the hospital obtained accreditation from JCI; the recognized global leader in healthcare accreditation. The accreditation is authorized by the Joint Commission International; the international arm of the Joint Commission (the United States’ largest accreditor of healthcare organizations). JCI is wholly non-profit and exists to provide leadership, quality, and credibility in the field of international health care.
In November, Abdali Hospital completed the first international humanitarian mission to treat children with heart defects - in partnership with Gift of Life International and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Abdali Hospital conducted free humanitarian congenital cardiac surgeries in line with its unwavering commitment to social responsibility.
During the same month, Abdali Hospital signed a cooperation agreement in Algeria with the Algerian Confederation of Employers, in keeping with its strategy to support and promote medical tourism in Jordan by building bridges with new Arab and African markets.
Moreover, in November, the Abdali Hospital Diabetes, Thyroid and Endocrinology Center was founded to deliver integrated and distinguished medical treatment for patients with diabetes, diabetic foot, thyroid disorders and gland enlargement (offering non-surgical interventions for their treatment), obesity, and metabolic disorders - in coordination with a highly qualified team of surgeons and other specialists, including nutritionists. The center also specializes in treating osteoporosis and endocrine disorders affecting the pituitary glands, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands (above the kidneys), ovaries, and testicles. All diagnostic and treatment services are provided under the supervision of an esteemed group of qualified consultant physicians and clinicians, in accordance with stringent international medical regulations and standards.
Meanwhile, in December, Abdali Hospital concluded the preparedness plan for its first residency training program to be launched next year, whereby eight residents will be hosted (four in the Anesthesiology Department, two in the Radiology Department and two in the Laboratory Department) with plans for residents to continue joining Abdali Hospital on an annual basis.
